At Dr Barry's we’re dedicated to helping you create a wellness routine that’s brings new life to your everyday. That’s why we bring you curated inspiration, information and great deals! This week, Founder of ModernHolistics and health educator, Tiffany Swilley, is sharing with us inside information on how she supports her health and wellness. Read on for practical tips and a quick glimpse into her everyday.

First off, tell us a little bit about you?

I’m a wife + mother of two. I am the founder of the yoga + wellness brand, modernholistics. We currently offer services in Holistic Nutrition and guided Movement sessions that focus on body detoxification, muscular optimization, and nutritional support for the mind, body and spirit. My background is based in exercise science and I have studied holistic wellness practices for an additional 10+ years. My journey through motherhood amplified my desire to discover alternative ways of living and has since expanded to leading others through their journey as well. On any given day you can find me gardening, cooking, chasing my girls and exploring the world outside. I also work with our local MLB team, the Texas Rangers, as a yoga + mobility teacher.

What does wellness mean to you?

Wellness is so many things to me. It's this beautiful umbrella of practices that elevate your physical and spiritual existence to the next level.

How do you support your wellness on a daily basis?

I have reached a point of 'no nonsense' in my life. Whether it is the food choice in front of me, the option to stay home rather than attend a social event, or deciding on a day of restorative yoga over a high intensity weight training session - if it doesn't serve my body, mind or spirit...it's outta here! One thing I love to do on a regular basis is my 3 Day Detox program! Super simple way to reset the body

What do you love about your Dr Barry's Eclectic Remedy?

I love naturopathy - the fact that I can take Lady Biz for hormonal support (hello, postpartum madness!) and its utilizing all natural herbs and superfoods, puts my mind at ease. While 'modern medicine' is great, I feel often times it serves to treat symptoms rather than underlying issues. Dr Barry's is getting right to the heart of the issue and treating it naturally! I also can't help but love that it's a family owned and operated business. So cool.

Our tagline is 'change your health, change your story.' Meaning our goal is to help people find wellness so they can enjoy their day and do the things they were meant to do. What does that mean to you and how have you seen or lived that first hand?

When it comes down to it, your health is the foundation of everything.  More often than not, the way we treat our physical body mirrors what's going on in our mind and spirit as well. If you've made taking care of yourself a priority, your spirit can also flourish - and that is true health. To know that despite your physical body, you are able to thrive. For me, when I go through the rigors of life and have felt sort of jerked around emotionally (hello, global pandemic?) I know that I can always return home to my body and the comfort of connecting my spirit to the original source of life - God. When I start there, the health of my body follows suit.

Any advice or tips to help others on their wellness journey?

There is so much information available to us these days it can feel overwhelming knowing where to start. Start with what you know - what makes you feel your best? Is it getting enough sleep? Maybe it's drinking more water and having a salad for lunch. The more of those small steps you can connect throughout your day, the better you will feel and the more you'll want to keep going. Don't try to overhaul your life all at once. Take charge moment by moment - those moments are what transform your life.
